**History**
Darren St. James is a rising XMA star from St. Lucia. He also is a musical fanatic. He uses his love of music to enhance almost everything he does, especially martial arts. He dreams of one day becoming a reggaeton artist.
2 years, 3 championship victories, and 100 demo cds later, St. James has transformed himself into a Martial arts oriented musical anomaly named DeeJay.
In competition he uses the flash of XMA acrobatics mixed with the power and speed of pure kickboxing with the spectacle of B-boy style capoeria. He even makes all his entrance music himself. His style and flash tend to overwhelm all who challenge him but, even those who lose to him respect and almost always become fans or friends due to his positive and kind nature.
In music, he mixes Reggaeton and B-Boy riddims giving him a sound all his own and the persona to back up his style.
DeeJay rose to international fame when he was called out by veteran street fighter Adon Songkhla of Thailand. The fight was amazing. This level of acrobatics had yet to be seen on live television or the internet. Within an hour of showing up on tubeyou the vid of the match received 400,0000,000 hits making him an instant sensation.
Now most people would take this kind of attention as an opportunity to plant their feet and bask in the lime light. But for DeeJay, his creativity and fighting spirit need to be equally used and instead of settling for 15 minutes of fame, he sets out for immortality in "the halls of fighting history" by entering the "World Warrior" Tournament.

My inspiration here was B boy culture. Mainly the Jabberwokeez. Those guys are crazy and at times like most B-Boys, they utilize many flashy moves from various martial arts.
The other thing was the fact that the guys at Capcom Japan have this lack of interest and ability to actually research West-indian/Caribbean culture or anything involving the original dark skinned people of the world, to create interesting, non stereotypical characters.
I give props to James Goddard of CApcom USA in the fact that he created a black character with a positive vibe and cool moves. I hate what Capcom would do with that design in the years to come. It was almost if to counter how effective he was they had to make his design more and more stereotypical.
Anyhoo, I noticed that even tho he's a DIRECT parody of Billy Blanks, comic book and video game designers insist on making him fight less like Billy and more like some wannabe B-Boy.
So with that in mind I did a complete revamp. I dig it a lot.
What do you think?
